Christian Nurturing The shelter, nurture, and spiritual fellowship of the children of God is one of the "Great Ends of the Church" listed in the Presbyterian Form of Government. Programs at Neelsville that support that end are described below.
Young-at-Hearts: Offers daytime fellowship for the older adults of the church. It meets about every four months for a luncheon and guest speaker or other activity. Parent's Morning Out: A program that gives members and frequent visitors an opportunity to run errands, do chores, or simply relax. Child care is provided on Thursday mornings at the church from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. It is for pre-kindergarten children of any age so long as they can walk. The cost is $6 for the first child and $3 for each additional child. Top Memorial Service Luncheons: It is a Neelsville tradition to provide a meal in the Fellowship Hall after a funeral for friends and family who attend the memorial service. This allows time to comfort one another with minimal stress on the family. It also provides an opportunity to witness to guests about Christian love and our support of one another. We are always looking for those who want to be a part of this ministry. Please call the church office if you want to be called to help. Thanks to all who give so graciously when the need arises. This is a way to serve God while helping those in need of compassion. The Prayer Chain: Serves as a way for members to support each other in times of need and rejoice together in times of thanksgiving. Prayer requests are shared among about 50 members, organized into 8 groups. Prayer requests called into the church office are relayed to the members who pass them along to the next member of the chain. Top Deacons: Each family at Neelsville is assigned to one of our 15 deacons as part of that deacon's "shepherd group". Each deacon has 13-18 families on his or her list. Deacons keep in touch with members in their groups to facilitate attendance and involvement in church activities and minister to needs of the congregation. Coordinating delivery of meals to those who are sick is typical of the nurture provided by the deacons. The Deacons also sponsor the Stephen Ministry Group. Stephen Ministry is a program providing one-on-one Christian care giving to those in need. For further information on Stephen Ministry click here. Membership: Neelsville welcomes new members who wish to share in the work and worship of this congregation. Inquirer's classes are held several times throughout the year for those interested in learning about membership. One becomes an active member of the church through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and acceptance of his Lordship in all of life. Faithful members accept Christ's call to be actively and responsibly involved in the ministry of his Church. Top |
