Christian Sacraments
The Lord's Supper - The invitation to the Lord's Supper is extended to all who have been baptized. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper is celebrated each month and on other special occasions at Neelsville Presbyterian Church.
The Lord's Supper is the seal and sign of eating and drinking in communion with the crucified and risen Lord, who commanded that His followers share the bread and cup as a remembrance and a showing faith of His death until He comes. Around the Table of the Lord, God's people are in communion with Christ and with all who belong to Christ.
Baptism - The Sacrament of Baptism is administered during the Sunday worship service several times a year. For the baptism of children, at least one parent or guardian must be a member of the church. Adult baptism is a special celebration at Neelsville. All adults who have never been baptized do so when they join the church.
Infant baptism is a declaration of the love of God surrounding each child even before the child develops an awareness of his love. It is means whereby the children of believing parents are claimed as part of the family of God; a part of the household of faith (the church). Parents and all members of the congregation take upon themselves the responsibility for the nurture of the child. For this reason, Presbyterian baptism takes place in corporate worship rather than private.
As there is one body, there is one Baptism (Ephesians 4:4-6). The Presbyterian Church (USA) recognizes all Baptisms with water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit administered by other Christian Churches.
