Seal of the Presbyterian Church

The basic symbol motifs in the Seal are the cross, scripture, dove, and flames.

The top crossbar of the cross represents an open book, emphasizing the central role of scripture in the reformed tradition.

The descending dove is the traditional symbol of the Holy spirit, symbolizing what Christ's death and resurrection bring to the broken world.

Beneath the image of the book is the suggestion of a pulpit, which captures the important role of preaching the good news.

The flames represents the fire of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and help to form a triangle, a system of government, with a concern for balance and order, dividing power among ministers of the World and lay people.
